Below is an article interviewing long-time Prestan customer, Brady McLaughlin, founder and COO of Trio Safety CPR and AED Solutions in Alabama. Product Applications from the Field is a special feature in November’s issue of EMS World Magazine.

The interview was conducted by EMS World staff. The content provides real world insight into Prestan product value and will help your customers relate to how the Prestan Manikins can help them as well.

Realistic Manikins for Effective Simulation

When it comes to CPR training, providing in-depth, up-to-date performance feedback is essential to ensure students are learning the correct way to do CPR.

Prestan® Manikins are designed to provide educators an easy method to give realistic and immediate feedback to increase their confidence in performing this lifesaving skill.

Brady McLaughlin, founder and COO of Trio Safety CPR and AED Solutions in Alabama, says Prestan’s manikins have allowed him to educate a rapidly growing number of students. McLaughlin says in the last year, they have trained about 10,000 people across the southeastern region of the United States in CPR and have exclusively used Prestan’s Adult, Infant and Ultralight Manikins to do so.

McLaughlin says the manikins provide students with a hyper-realism that makes it easy for the students to learn and makes it easier to teach.

“With features like the realistic skin tone and the realistic anatomical features, it makes it really easy,” McLaughlin says. “You can show them on the chest exactly where they need to do compressions, and with the realistic anatomical features, they’ll know what it feels like to be too high or too low.”

McLaughlin says the CPR feedback monitors, used in conjunction with the manikins, help students retain the information they learn as well as increase their confidence. This helps instructors do a better job as well.

“You can watch the compressions in real time and let them know how to do their compressions more effectively by watching the feedback on the shoulder monitor,” McLaughlin says.

Prestan manikins are lightweight, making transport easy, and can be set up quickly and effortlessly. McLaughlin says one of the best things about Prestan’s manikins is how easy it is to insert the lungs into the manikins. It takes about 30 seconds before each class to install the lungs, McLaughlin indicated.

Trio Safety’s motto is “Making lifesaving training easy, engaging and effective,” and McLaughlin says Prestan’s products really help them hit all three points.
